50 Cent pleaded guilty and paid a $1,100 fine to close a case in St. Kitts after he was arrested for swearing on stage, Billboard reports. The G-Unit general was taken into police custody after he performed “P.I.M.P.” at a club appearance on the island. He was allegedly not supposed to perform, but due to fan requests, gave the crowd what they wanted. Promotional material for the appearance listed him as a headlining act for a festival.
The publication, citing a source close to the rapper named Rocky, says that as 50 was taking the stage, he was told not to say “f**k” during the set, but not warned about other curse words. It is a misdemeanor offense in St. Kitts and 14 other countries to swear in public.
50 got through 25 minutes of a set without problem until he performed “P.I.M.P.” In case you didn’t know, the chorus to the song goes “I’m a motherfucking P-I-M-P.”
He and his bodyguard, Bajar Walter, were arrested backstage. Walter reportedly tried to fight authorities for trying to arrest 50, so he was given an obstruction charge.
After three hours in jail, they were granted bail for $1,820 and had to surrender their travel documents. The two enlisted local attorneys to represent them in court where they pleaded guilty to indecent language charges. Walter’s obstruction charge was dropped.
At the end of it all, Rocky says that the fiasco did not stop 50 and his squad from enjoying their Carribean adventures.
“We just want people to know we ain’t mad about this, we all had a good time,” he tells the site. “50 enjoyed it so much he decided to stay longer and go to Nevis today (Monday, June 27) and we would come back and perform in St. Kitts again anytime they would like to have us back.”
Although 50 got off pretty easy overseas, back in the United States, he and Dr. Dre are facing a lawsuit for “P.I.M.P.” from a producer who claims his work was stolen for the beat of the iconic track.
